Mike Davidson - Head Coach
Coach Davidson was a three-sport standout at Greenwood High School. He continued his football and track careers at Butler University with outstanding results. A four-year letter winner in both sports, Coach Davidson was Captain of the HCC conference championship track team and earned All-Conference and Academic All-Conference honors in track and football. In Football, his Bulldogs went undefeated and were ranked in the top 8 in the nation in 1983. In track, Coach Davidson was nominated as team captain his sophomore through senior year. In his senior season, Coach Davidson led his team to an outstanding season capped off with a Heartland Collegiate Conference Championship. He began his coaching career at Carmel High School where in 1986 he assisted in a football state championship effort. His track duties contributed to conference and sectional titles, coaching many athletes to All-State honors. Coach Davidson handled all the field events and the hurdlers while at Carmel.
At Ben Davis, Coach Davidson continues to dedicate himself to the football and track athletes. As an assistant football coach at Ben Davis, Davidson has been part of five state championships. The Mr. Football award for defensive backs has a home at Ben Davis, Coach Davidson has had a DB earn this prestigious award three times.
Volunteering his first year in track at Ben Davis, Coach Davidson took over the head coaching duties in the spring of 1991. Through the efforts of outstanding assistant coaches and dedicated athletes, Coach Davidson’s teams are 136-28, with championships in 15 sectionals, 7 regionals, 3 county, and 3 state runner-up finishes including 2000, 2002 and 2007. The Giants finished 3rd in the state in 2003 and 2006. 2008 saw the Giants win their first state team title, and the 2009 and 2010 Giants defended their state title, making it three in a row! The Giants have finished in the top 20 in the state sixteen times since 1991. School records have been set in twelve events during Coach Davidson’s tenure. The Giants have won nineteen state event titles in the last eight years. Ray Scotten and Keenan Hall claimed National Champion status in 2002 and 2006 respectively and the 2009 4x100 relay ran 41.09 to the Giants first relay national title.
Coach Davidson completed his Masters Degree in Education from Butler University in 1989. His teaching responsibilities at Ben Davis include computer science and algebra. Coach Davidson’s computer science program has produced first place finishing teams at both the IUPUI and Rose Hulman computing contests.
Coach Davidson’s wife, Debbie, is a teacher in the business department at Ben Davis where she is in charge of the award winning Wayne Township web site. She was selected as the 2002 Ben Davis Teacher of the Year, Wayne Township Teacher of the Year, and a 2003 Top Ten Finalist for Indiana Teacher of the Year. In addition, she spent many years as the head girls track coach and gives great support to Coach Davidson and the Giants track program

Michael Vinson - Assistant Coach - Sprints
Coach Michael Vinson is in his 4rd year of coaching on the Ben Davis staff. Coach Vinson has been affiliated with the Indiana Storm (summer track program in the USATF circuit) for 13 years, serving as head coach for the last 9 years. With that, he has had the pleasure of coaching some of Indiana's elite track and field athletes - all the way to the Jr. Olympics. He has also coached at Pike High School (2004) and Northwest High School (2007), where some of the athletes have achieved school records under his guidance.
A native of San Diego, California, Coach Vinson moved to Indianapolis in 1994. He is married with four children. Coach Vinson is also a graduate of DeVry Institute of Technology (Phoenix , AZ) - 1986 and is currently employed as a Quality Engineer at CTP Corporation.

Nicholas Balbach- Assistant Coach - Distance
Coach Balbach is a 2000 graduate from Heritage Hills High School. While there, he ran CC and track for four years. He attended Bellarmine University. During that time he ran CC and track for three years and was a 2004 graduate with an Elementary Education and K-12 Special Education Degree.
He currently teaches special education at the high school. This is his sixth year at Ben Davis, and he is looking forward to great things this season both in the distance events and for the whole team.
He is married to Amber who is Registered Dietician at the VA Hospital. They have 2 sons, Elijah, 2, and Max, born in August.

Terry Brahm - Assistant Coach - Distance
Terry Brahm native of St Meinrad, IN. went to college at Indiana University where he ran track and cross country. While at IU Terry was a 6 time All American, 5 time Big Ten Champ, and NCAA Champion at 5000 meters.
After graduation he ran for Nike and made the 1988 Olympic Team at 5000 meters. He has a lifetime personal record of 3:54 in the mile.
He has been a teacher for 23 years, 21 of those years here in Wayne. He currently is teaching at the Ben Davis Ninth Grade Center. He has coached both at the Junior High and High School levels. He and his wife Nina have been directors of Brahms Running Camp for the past 13 years.

Brett Waller - Assistant Coach - Throws
Coach Waller is in his 1st year with the Giants and will be helping the throwers. Coach Waller currently teaches Physical Education at Chapelwood Elementary and is an assistant football coach in the fall.
Coach Waller comes to us from Summitville, Indiana where he played football and was a member of the track & field team while attending Madison Grant High School. Coach Waller, a 2006 graduate, was a 3-year letter winner in track. He continued his education at Franklin College in Franklin, Indiana. He gradated in 2010 with a degree in K-12 Physical Education and Health.

Davyd Cash - Assistant Coach - Jumps
Coach Cash, a Ben Davis graduate, is a former Indiana All-Star. Coach Cash has been involved with Ben Davis track for almost thirteen years. Though his expertise lies in the long jump and high jump, he is knowledgeable in all facets of the sport.
He oversees the boys and girls long jumpers and high jumpers.
Shane Priddy - Assistant Coach - Pole Vault
Coach Priddy is a Ben Davis graduate participating in Football, Swimming, and Track & Field (Pole Vault). He attended Purdue and later IUPUI pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering. In 1996 he joined the US Navy Special Forces and became a SEAL at Team One and later standing up and serving as a member of Team Seven. The last two years of his 10 year tour he was trained as a high risk instructor and found in doing so he loved teaching and coaching. He moved back to Indianapolis and into the Ben Davis area so his children could attend the best schools in the country.
Coach Priddy works at Algaeon, a biofuel company, as a project engineer since 2007. Wanting to get back to coaching he assisted one year with the swimming team and went on to assist Ray Scotten that same year on the track team. Coach Priddy took over as the pole vaulting coach in Spring of 2011 and led his freshman pole vaulter to a Freshman County first place finish and continued Scotten’s work helping the girls varsity vaulter break the school record and place fifth in state.
Coach Priddy is a single father with five children who all attend Wayne Twp. Schools. Three are at North Wayne and two are at Ben Davis participateing in football, swimming, and track & field. He is looking forward to a third season with the amazing staff and young men and women of the Ben Davis Track & Field teams.

Orlando Mason - Head Freshman Coach/Assistant Coach - Throws
Coach Mason is a native of Cleveland, Ohio where he started his coaching career 25 years ago coaching both football and track. Coach Mason is a graduate of University of Toledo where he was a multi-letter winner in football and track. Over the years Coach Mason has coached several top 5 place winners in the weight events at the Ohio State Meets.
Coach Mason started with the Ben Davis program as a volunteer coach before moving to Ben Davis Jr. to coach that program. Coach Mason returns to Ben Davis High School as a Varsity assistance and the Freshman coach. Coach Mason's freshmen track teams over the past 8 years have won 3 Marion County championships and has not placed any lower than third. Coach Mason states "my job is to feed the tradition of Ben Davis Track." Coach Mason is also a member of the Giants football coaching family as well.
Coach Mason is a member of the Ben Davis Freshman staff as a Freshmen Counselor. Coach Mason is married to Julie Mason and has a son, Cameron, who is a graduate of Indiana University, and he was a member of the Giants football and track programs.

Steve Yaros - Volunteer Coach - Throws
Coach Yaros is in his 8th year with the Giants and will be coaching the throwers once again. Coach Yaros hopes to add to the success the throws program has had over the past 7 years, This season, the throwers wish to help the Giants win their 4th state championship in track by scoring in the shot put and/or discus in Bloomington. Coach Yaros currently teaches at Ben Davis Ninth Grade Center.
Coach Yaros comes to us from Valparaiso, Indiana where he played football, wrestled, and was a member of the track & field team while attending Valparaiso High School. A state qualifier in the shot put his junior year, Coach Yaros, a 1999 graduate, was a 3-year starter on the varsity football team playing offensive center and long snapper. He continued his education at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. While attending he was a member of the 3-time SCAC Boys track & field team. Concentrating just on the shot put at DePauw, he placed in the 2002 SCAC Conference Championship in that event. He graduated in 2003 with a degree in History.
Coach Yaros and his wife Kelli will be married 6 years this June. Kelli works as a pharmacist for Walgreens. Her support for Coach Yaros and the throwers during the season is an integral part of their success. Coach Yaros and his wife welcomed their first child Zachary last June. They also have a 3 year old Lab named Jack that likes to play all of the time.

Derek Speer - Volunteer Coach - Distance
Coach Speer is a 2005 graduate of Franklin Central High School. While at FCHS, Mr. Speer was part of the 7th place (2002) and a 3rd place (2004) teams at the Cross Country State Championships. After high school, Coach Speer attended the University of Indianapolis on an athletic scholarship. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree for his double major in Studio Art for Ceramics and Printmaking and Visual Arts Education. Athletically, he received four Cross Country letters and three Track letters.
Coach Speer is in his first teaching position at North Wayne Elementary School as the new Art Teacher and his first year as an assistant coach.

Victor Stallworth - Volunteer Coach - Freshman
This is Coach Stallworth's second year coaching at Ben Davis High School.
He spent the past four years in Indianapolis Public Schools coaching at both the middle school and high school levels. While there he and his teams won five city championships in basketball, football, boys and girls track and field, and wrestling. For those championships he was an assistant and head coach at Shortridge Middle School. Coach Stallworth I also spent some time coaching at Crispus Attucks Medical Magnet Middle School and High School. He spent his last year at Arsenal Technical High School as an assistant freshman coach for basketball, football, and track and field.
In high school, Coach Stallworth played for Coach Ed Siegal of Pike High School. He spent his first two collegiate years at Lake Land Community College in Mattoon, Illinois. For his last two years Coach Stallworth attended Central State University in Ohio majoring in Health and Physical Education.

Austin Inge - Volunteer Coach - Sprints
Originally from Fort Wayne, Indiana Coach Inge participated in football, basketball, and was a four year letter winner in track at Concordia High School. He graduated in 2005 and attended the University of Southern Indiana where he also competed in track and field. In his first season he broke 3 school records and still holds freshman records in every sprint event. Coach Inge served as team captain of the sprint team, and even played an assistant coach role during his junior and senior seasons for the sprinters.
He graduated in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in radio/television and currently resides in Indianapolis with his wife (Kaye) and daughter (Allyson).
