Mission Statement:
The
mission of Ben Davis High School, a partnership of students,
staff, families, and community, is to ensure that all students
acquire and apply knowledge, skills, processes and values to
become lifelong learners and productive citizens in a diverse
society through an innovative educational program of outstanding
quality.

Enrollment: As of November 1, 2011, 2,956 students in grades 10-12
Staff:
178 teachers, including counselors, media specialist, art, physical education, music, and career/technical teachers. Also, nurses, teacher assistants/paraprofessionals, secretaries, cooks, and custodians.
Honors/Awards:
Ben
Davis, the three-year high school with the largest enrollment
in Indiana, has received national recognition. The most prestigious
honor was the National Award for Excellence in Education from
the U.S. Dept. of Education. Ben Davis was selected as a model
school by providing outstanding programs in basic skills, general
education, special education, college-preparation, vocational
studies, evening and summer school, alternative education, and
extra-curricular activities.
Student Activities:
Ben
Davis extra-curricular program strives for excellence. The athletic,
speech, band, choral, journalism, and departmental programs
regularly receive honors. This is due to the dedication and
commitment of the students, faculty, school board, and the community.
Community Involvement:
Parents
and other community members are frequent participants in school
activities and are well informed regarding school expectations,
successes, and concerns. Parents participate on various school
committees, booster clubs, and parent groups.
Facility:
The
current Ben Davis High School was originally built in 1965.
There have been five additional construction/renovation projects.
