Club and Program Updates
The Manga Club
Students may come in and read and discuss Manga, and create activities related to Manga. Reading Manga online is also allowed. Occasionally, the club watches Anime. Club meets after school on Tuesdays.
Battle of the Books City-Wide Competition
This opportunity relates to the city-wide competition in which students read seven selected titles from the Elliot Rosewater Book List. Students will read until March then take a written test to narrow down our team to seven students, five contestants and two alternates. Student teams from across the city will come to Ben Davis to take a written test with our team. The top three scoring teams will compete in a Jeopardy style contest in May. There will be trophies for the winning team as well as a traveling plaque. The runners-up will receive ribbons.
The Jewelry Club
The Jewelry Club meets every Tuesday in the school library. We will learn a new technique each Tuesday. There will be a community service project to complete during the year. For more information contact Ms. Brooks or Ms. Wineglass.
Reading Incentive Club
Students may read books independently and take Reading Counts test on the books. At the end of the year the student with the most points will win an XBOX 360. Other prizes are given for students with at least five books passed.
