Troupe #21 Alumni in Action

We want to use this space to show how students from Ben Davis have made (or are making) an impact on the performing arts.

If you have any information on a graduate of our program you wish to share, please e-mail the Ben Davis Web Design Team.

The idea for this space started when former director of drama, Mr. Rex Haviland, received the January 2001 copy of Dramatics magazine (a publication of the International Thespian Society/Educational Theatre Association), and looking out from the cover was the first graduate to grace this space, 1988 BD grad, Giles Davies (upper left).  Giles has had a colorful career since leaving BD, including solo performances in Hong Kong, Belgium, Malaysia, and even here at Ben Davis, just to name a few stops.  He is currently a member of the Cincinnati Shakespeare Festival (giles@cincyshakes.com).

Jackie DeMaline of the Cincinnati Enquirer (www.cincinnati.com) in a review of Giles in one of his "one-man" shows said "when one of Cincinnati's best actors decides to pull a one-man show out of his hat, you can't help but make the effort to check it out..." "Mr. Davies has CSF (Cincinnati Shakespeare Festival) audiences sitting up and taking notice...for a masterful turn in Waiting for Gadot..."

Giles earned an MFA from Ohio State University where he specialized in creating solo performances.  He has performed his one-man show An Evening with Charles Dickens at venues from here at Ben Davis to Hong Kong.  In October, he premiered a new solo piece, Turgid Tales of Turmoil, Terror, and Tortured Souls.  As his solo thesis at OSU he wrote and performed Whu is One.
