Cafeteria Procedures
The Chapel Hill 7th & 8th Grade Center offers students a wide variety of options for both breakfast and lunch. The following are some basic procedures that students need to follow:
Student Behavior/Conduct:
Lunchtime is a period for students to relax and enjoy some time with friends. Students are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that does not cause major disruption.
- Students are not to be out of their seats unless:
- permission is given from a staff member
- instructed by the microphone to go through the lunch-lines
- to throw away trash and place their trays in the tray return window when instructed.
- Students should use a 6-inch voice.
- No food or any other item is to be thrown at any times.
- Students are not allowed to change seats during lunch or move about the cafeteria without permission.
- Students must maintain a clean environment at their table and seats at all times. They will be given cleaning supplies to ensure that their designated areas are as clean upon dismissal as it was during their entry. Adults will review this procedure throughout the school year as needed.
- Students must ensure that they do not throw away their plasticware provided by the café.
- Students are issued a lunch card at the start of the school year. Students need to keep their lunch card with them daily. Due to the numbers of students that are fed each lunch period, students who do not have their lunch card with them will eat last during that lunch period
- Replacement cards are issued for $2
- Student Identification Cards may be used as lunch cards as well
- Due to the large numbers of students that the Chapel Hill 7th & 8th Grade Center offers lunch to, on a daily basis, it is necessary to maximize time. Students are not allowed to pay with cash when they go through the lunch line. This requires the cafeteria staff to run a separate transaction for each student and slows down the process considerably.
- Students are asked to turn in money to their homeroom teacher at the start of each school day. This allows cafeteria staff to enter the student’s money into their account and expedites the process when students go through the line to make their food selections.
- You may put your money in an account on line through the computer. Go to www.myLunchMoney.com and click on “Enroll Now”. You can get a flyer in the Guidance Office with directions.
- Parents may also make an advance payment at the beginning or anytime during the school year. Once again when students place $50 on their account, they receive a $2 bonus!!
- If the school year comes to a close and students have money still on their accounts, it will be rolled over to the next year.
Lunch is offered daily to students at the Chapel Hill 7th & 8th Grade Center. The Type A Lunch is $1.75. There are no fee changes in the café fro the 2011-2012 school year. There are also ala carte items available such as chips, fruit drinks, cookies, hot pretzels, etc.
Breakfast: Chapel Hill 7th & 8th Grade Centers has a universal breakfast program. This means that all students will be provided breakfast free of charge daily if they choose. Students will have a chance to decide if they would like breakfast that day when they arrive in their Homeroom or A.I.M. = Academics in the Morning class. Homeroom teachers will ask students if they would like breakfast… they will record this on a form to be sent to the cafeteria staff, then send the requested number of breakfast items which includes juice and/or milk. Students will eat in the classroom as they watch their peers deliver the announcements from our television studio. We look forward to providing students, free of charge, the most important meal of the day as they prepare to learn and master the essential skills necessary to be successful in school and in life.
