Chapel Hill's grading focus is to be as consistent as possible across the curriculum, and with all 80 classroom teachers. However, because of the wide range of classes, some departments will use procedures that best fit the expectations of learning that content.
School-wide, these grading procedures will be in place:
For an absences, students will have at least the same number of days absent to make up work. Parents may request make-up work before 9:00am on the second day of absence @ 988-8800 and speak personally to a Secretary. Please do not leave a message. Work may be picked up after 8:30am the following day.
Homework may be counted 5-10% of a nine weeks grade. How often assignments are given will be at the teachers' discretion.
A student may be allowed to retakea classroom test only after demonstrating additional preparation PRIOR to asking for the retake. The highest grade of the two retakes will count.
Students who earn an expulsion will not receive grades for the length of the expulsion.
