Incentive Programs

In accordance with the school’s motto, “Giants Work Hard and Do the Right Thing”, we reward those students that demonstrate the following: respect, leadership, academic excellence, and citizenship. The purple star program recognizes these students. Each day teachers from each team can select and hand out a purple star to any student that is exhibiting the above mentioned actions and traits. When a student is recognized, he/she receives a purple star that can be placed in their grade level guidance office for a weekly drawing. Not only do they receive the purple star, but they also receive the wonderful surprises and benefits that come along with the honor of being recognized as a purple star student. The following rewards are given to these students: gift cards to area food centers and shopping centers, free food certificates, various donated gifts, free dance entry, free admissions to Chapel Hill events, and many more new incentives which will be added during the 2012-2013 school year.

Each team also provides their own reward system for their team. Many teams incorporate “Fun Fridays.” This is a time where the students receive open gym time, movies, or arts and crafts time for outstanding behavior. This designated time on Fridays, is an incentive for not receiving any detentions, Friday schools, or administrative referrals during the current week.

Those students maintaining a 3.5 GPA will be eligible for induction to the National Junior Honor Society in May. Hard work and good citizenship helps all Giants achieve.
