What does it take to be a Mentor?

One hour a week is all you need to volunteer for HOSTS.

Citizens, Community Members, Businesses, Organizations and Universities are participating in HOSTS programs nationwide and promoting HOSTS within their communities.

Research shows that by encouraging and supporting volunteerism, businesses gain more productive, satisfied employees. Businesses can support HOSTS by giving their employees work-release time or extended lunch hours so they can mentor students. Organizations can promote HOSTS to their membership as a fun, easy and rewarding way to give back to their communities. Universities and other educational institutions that emphasize volunteerism can promote HOSTS as a way for students to gain required service learning hours and as a valuable experience for anyone planning to enter the educational profession.
