Title I

What is Title I?

Title I is a federally funded program aimed at improving student achievement. Funds are allocated based on the demographics of the school or district. Title 1 services provide academic support to those students who qualify. Students who qualify will receive supplemental support in the Language Arts classroom during the day, followed by an extended day program.

Every student in the school was considered. Student selection was based off of current NWEA Lexile and RIT scores, which are indicators of the student’s current level of reading comprehension. Your child was selected based on priority and the need for their academic success.

Program Design

The Title I Program focuses on improving reading comprehension skills through non-fiction text by incorporating:
  • Instructional support to meet student’s individual needs and increase their understanding of the topic/concept being taught.
  • Supplemental resources to draw conclusions, enhance students understanding, and make claims about a text.
  • 21st Century skills using technological tools and print materials to gather, synthesize, and communicate information.
  • Strategies for comprehending and decoding to read various kinds of text.
