Tom Arthur is in his third year at Ben Davis High School where he teaches algebra and geometry. Mr. Arthur has more than 10 years of teaching experience, previously teaching at Northview High School in Brazil, Indiana, about 15 miles east of Terre Haute. Mr. Arthur served on the Brazil City Council and was the city's mayor in 2004. When he's not teaching at Ben Davis or Achieve Virtual he spends most of his time with his family. He lives in Owen County with is wife (a social studies teacher at Clay Junior/Senior High School), his son and daughter, and their Labrador retriever named Mater.Email Mr. Arthur
Jenn Benjamin is returning to the AVE program for her second semester. She is a 2005 Lawrence North High School graduate and 2009 Ball State University graduate. In addition to teaching AVE, Miss Benjamin is an Algebra 2 and Geometry Honors teacher and girls' assistant cross country coach at Ben Davis High School. Miss Benjamin is currently in her fourth year of teaching and third year of coaching at Ben Davis. Jenn is excited to be back for yet another fantastic year at Ben Davis!
Melvin Bridges is in his first year of teaching. He received his degree in mathematics from Alabama State University. He moved to Indianapolis in 2010 to study in the Woodrow Wilson Indiana Teaching Fellowship at the University of Indianapolis, where he will receive a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) in 2012. Mr. Bridges is from Racine, Wisconsin, and he is a member of the New Life Worship Center and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
Dennis Lindley is in his fourth year of teaching with the Area 31 Career Center where he is responsible for the academic integration of mathematics. Prior to this assignment Dennis spent 13 years working for the Indiana Department of Corrections educating juvenile offenders. Dennis holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Mathematics Education from Indiana State University and a Masters of Arts in Mild Interventions from Ball State University. Dennis currently resides in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Mike Slack is a teacher who values education, as shown by his devoted 39-year teaching career. Mr. Slack has taught math at Perry Meridian High School since 1974 and is currently teaching algebra 1 and pre-calculus. Mr. Slack and his wife, Sue, are both originally from Terre Haute but moved to the south side of Indianapolis shortly after they were married. Mr. Slack welcomes all “mathemagicians” and hopes he is a positive influence to all of his Achieve Virtual students.Email Mr. Slack
Andrea McFall graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University in April 2012 with a Bachelor's of Science in Mathematics Education. She is very excited to begin her teaching career with Ben Davis and Achieve Virtual. Miss McFall looks forward to bringing her diverse cultural experiences to AVE, having attended school in the Philippines and Republic of Ireland, as well as teaching for six weeks in Hamilton, Scotland as part of a study abroad program. She loves to travel around the world, having visited London, Paris, Amsterdam, Madrid, Nicaragua, and South Africa, to name a few. One of her goals is to visit all seven continents, even Antarctica. In her free time, Miss McFall enjoys reading, writing, and making math equations out of the time. She lives with her parents and the world's most spoiled dog, Jasmine.Email Miss McFall
