Service Learning
The students at the Wayne Enrichment Center completed 1,100 hours of service learning during the 2009-2010 school year. Service projects included:
•Lowe's Toolkit Grant - Students did projects to improve the school grounds.
• HOSTS - Students served as reading mentors to 2nd graders at Maplewood Elementary.
• Sanders Physical Education: The junior high students served as peer tutors to students in Life Skills program at Sanders School.
• Food Drive: Partnered with Alpha Delta Kappa in collecting food for Restoring Lives West.
• Pennies for Patients: Raised money for the Leukemia Foundation.
• Strong Kids Campaign: Raised money for the YMCA.
•Convention of the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW): Students made over 1,000 "worry dolls" to encourage senate to ratify CEDAW.
