Wayne Township Community Theatre's 10th anniversary season has now concluded.
Wayne Township Community Theatre is a volunteer-driven theatre and welcomes all involvement. Our ushers, set & costume builders, actors, singers and box office helpers are all volunteers. Volunteers are encouraged to participate in every area of production. If you are enthusiastic about learning a new skill, we will teach you!
The following are ways you can get involved besides being onstage:
Backstage:
Includes: Sewing, scenic painting, carpentry, prop gathering, follow spot operation, sound & lighting board operation.
We need stage managers, assistant stage managers and crew members for every show that we produce.
Front of House:
Includes: Box office workers, house managers & ushers.
Volunteers are also needed to assist with marketing and fundraising.
It is the goal of the program to provide a positive theatre experience for children and adults as they explore their talents, to produce quality theatre for the community and to cultivate a family of patrons to support the program and the Wayne Township Education Foundation. The Wayne Township Education Foundation sponsors Wayne Township Community Theatre, creating a unique working relationship between volunteers and an established community effort. All proceeds from the shows, in turn support programs of the Wayne Township Education Foundation.
WTCT has been in production since 2002. Teacher Scott Cline and west side resident Gus Pearcy brought the concept to the Wayne Township Education Foundation as a summer fundraiser. At the time, very few theatres were doing summer shows, so this seemed to be a niche Wayne Township Community Theatre could fit. Further, there are no theatres on the west-side of Indianapolis. Each year the program has grown with increased Encore nominations and accolades. In 2008, WTCT introduced very successful Kids Theater Summer Camps and will continue to host them in the future.
WTCT is an all volunteer organization and is a member of the Encore Association.
