Out Of District Enrollment

The initial application window for 2026-2027 has closed — but you can still apply.

If you missed the initial application window, we encourage you to complete the 2026-2027 Out-of-District Application now. Here's how the waitlist works:

• Applications submitted after June 4, 2026, are automatically placed on a waitlist.
• Waitlisted applications will be reviewed if the district opens an additional application window at your requested school.
• Submitting an application does not guarantee that an additional window will open or that your student will be accepted, but it does ensure your student is considered promptly if one does.
• If your application moves forward, we will contact you directly using the information provided on your application — there is no need to reapply or check back.
• You may submit your waitlist application using any of the methods listed under "How to Apply" below.

We understand how busy family life can be, so we've created several easy ways for you to submit your application. Choose the option that works best for you:

Option 1: Online Application (Preferred Method)

• Complete our Out-of-District Transfer Application directly online.
• Upon submission, you will receive an email confirmation from forms-receipts-noreply@google.com
• Please check your spam folder for this confirmation email

Option 2: Email Submission

• Download the application form below and complete all required fields
• Email the completed application to kyra.krupa@wayne.k12.in.us with "26/27 OODT" in the subject line

Summer Hours: Monday - Thursday 7 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. and Friday, 7:00 a.m.-11 a.m.

• One application must be completed per student. Applications received after June 4, 2026, are placed on a waitlist.
• Out of District Transfer acceptance is granted for one year only (July 1 to June 30)
• We do not provide bus service. Transportation to and from school must be provided by the parent/guardian.
• During the 2026 - 2027 school year, each of our K-12 schools will operate on a two-hour delay schedule each Monday to provide professional development for staff. Additionally, three full days of professional development will be added throughout the school year, and students will learn asynchronously. The 2026-2027 school calendar can be found here.
• A separate application is required for each child in the household.
• Important Enrollment Deadline: Once your application is accepted, you must complete all enrollment paperwork and have your child fully enrolled by the specific date listed in your acceptance letter. If enrollment is not completed by this deadline, your child's approved application may be voided, and their spot may be offered to another applicant.
• After an Out of District Transfer student has enrolled, a copy of the student's educational records will be requested (transcripts/grades, attendance, discipline, achievement/assessment test scores, IEP/special education records, etc.)

The following elementary schools are open for 2026-2027 Out-of-District Transfer students (approval depends on current enrollment at each building):

• Chapel Glen Elementary
• Chapelwood Elementary
• Garden City Elementary
• Maplewood Elementary
• McClelland Elementary
• Rhoades Elementary
• Robey Elementary
• Stout Field Elementary
• Westlake Elementary

The following elementary schools are only accepting currently attending out-of-district students:

• North Wayne Elementary

Secondary Schools

All secondary schools are open for 2026-2027 Out-of-District Transfer students (approval depends on current enrollment):

• Ben Davis Ninth Grade Center
• Ben Davis High School
• Ben Davis University High School
• Chapel Hill 7th & 8th Grade Center
• Lynhurst 7th & 8th Grade Center

1. Complete the Application Process for each of your children by June 4, 2026. Applications submitted after June 4, 2026, are placed on the waitlist and reviewed if an additional window opens.
2. Wait for acceptance, conditional or denial letter from the Elementary/Secondary Assistant Superintendent.
3. If accepted, you must complete all enrollment paperwork by the deadline indicated in your acceptance letter. If a non-resident child is not enrolled by this date, the approved application may be voided, and your child's spot may be given to another applicant.

Applications may be denied if:

• The student has excessive absences
• The student has been suspended or expelled during the previous twelve (12) months for certain offenses
• There is insufficient space at the requested school
