Child Nutrition Staff Member Receives State Recognition for Excellence

Karen Harris, Office Assistant in the Child Nutrition Department, was honored at Monday evening's School Board meeting after being named the 2024 Indiana School Nutrition Association Office Assistant of the Year.

Child Nutrition Director Brittany Jointer commended Harris's impact on the department during the recognition. "One person can change the atmosphere of the whole department," Jointer said, "and Karen proves that every single day through her dedication and positive approach to her work."

Jointer added, "If I've done one thing right since I've been in this role, it's bringing Karen on board."

Harris received her award at the Indiana School Nutrition Association's President's Dinner in November. The annual award recognizes outstanding contributions by school nutrition office staff across the state. Recipients demonstrate exceptional skills in office management, financial accountability, customer service, and staff support.

Harris brings over three decades of experience to her role, having worked in the food service industry for 33 years.
